Asian Perspectives

This workshop will talk about why the situation in Japan and Asia requires new forms for people's movements; what is behind The People's Plan For The 21st Century, Japan (PP21); the PP21 from a Southeast Asian perspective; a critique of "perverse development" or the need to place strict human rights limitations on development activities; the concept of "people's conditionalities"; people's demands transcending traditional solutions; the 1989 Minamata Declaration; and the concept of trans-border participatory democracy.
