The OTHER Economic Summit, TOES - 90, Houston, July 6 - 8, 1990
The EnviroSummit: Planning the Environmental Accountability Project of the Group of Ten
At the 1989 Economic Summit in Paris, the G7 (U.S.A., Japan, Italy, France, U.K., Germany and Canada) pledged for the first time to take steps to protect the environment. Since then, no significant progress has been made. An unprecedented international coalition of over 150 environmental groups will release an environmental score card on the G7 leaders before this year's Economic Summit in Houston. During the TOES EnviroSummit, the Group of Ten will discuss the six-point plan of critical action which G7 leaders must follow in order to live up to their promises of last year. The need for future scorecards of this kind will also be addressed.
