The OTHER Economic Summit, TOES - 90, Houston, July 6 - 8, 1990
Affordable Housing in Houston's Future - Dream or Reality?
Houston is the fourth largest US city in terms of population, but ranks 25th in public housing capacity. Since the passage of the 1986 Tax Reform Act, the building of low-income private sector housing has nearly come to a halt. There is a critical shortage of low-income housing. Many of the homeless would not be in that situation if affordable housing were available. The City, the County and State governments primarily depend on Federal dollars for their housing efforts. How can more federal money be freed up or other sources of funds located?
