Panama and the U.S. Invasion:
Serving the Cause of Justice
This panel will explore diverse aspects of the U.S. military invasion of Panama, including the violation of international law, the full extent of the death and destruction caused by the military incursion, and the invasion's political and economic consequences for Panama, its people, and the rest of Central America.
- Gilma Camargo, who was born in Panama, is a law student at City University of New York Law School. She was a member of the National Lawyers' Guild delegation to Panama in January 1990, and is a member of the La Alternativa Committee for Panama.
- José Luis Morín, is staff attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights and counsel for 70 Panamanian civilian victims in a complaint before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the OAS regarding the illegality of the U.S. invasion.
