The OTHER Economic Summit, TOES - 90, Houston, July 6 - 8, 1990
Innovations in Recycling:
Community "Waste" Resources and Economic Development
The level of waste generated by our society has created massive problems. Proposed solutions are often not in the interest of local communities and the environment. Everywhere we look, jobs are disappearing. Economic power is concentrated in the hands of multi-billion-dollar multinational corporations that are for the most part accountable only to themselves. Neighborhood "waste" resources, as well as waste reduction, can help reconnect economics to community, and regenerate local economies. This roundtable brings together people working out innovative solutions that unite community and corporate organizations toward the end of sustaining communities and their environments.
